The City of Coppell Proclamation of Oct 22, 2017 as the "Bicentenary of the Birth of Baha'u


PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the Baha'is of Coppell are engaged in promoting the oneness of humanity through community building activities, service to others, collaborative action, concord, understanding; and

WHEREAS, the Baha'i Faith is a global religion founded by Baha'u'llah, whose message is meant to inspire, transform, unite, foster peace and prosperity and, in His words promises: "So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth;" and

WHEREAS, in 2017, the Baha'i Community celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Birth of Baha'u'llah and the founding of the Baha'i Faith's message of unity and service to humanity; and

WHEREAS, the Baha'is of Coppell invite our friends and neighbors to share in this bicentennial celebration of friendship, Coppell's diversity, and a hopeful vision of working together for the emergence of a united and prospering world.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Karen Selbo Hunt, Mayor of the City of Coppell, do hereby proclaim October 22, 2017 as the

"BICENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF BAHA'U'LLAH"

in the city and urge all to resolve on this day to promote those qualities and attributes which will help bring about the recognition of the oneness of humanity, to embrace diversity, and work for unity in our local community, in our country, and around the world.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have set my hand and cause to be affixed this 13th day of October 2017.
